Hi there and welcome to Russia! We'd like to invite you to our #museumsalon - a special twitter project run by the State Historical Museum!
Join us on Saturday, February 15th, at 10 am (UK time) and 7 pm (UK time). We will present the project and tell some stories about the history of the State Historical Museum.
What is the "State Historical museum"?
The State Historical museum is one the biggest museums in Moscow and all of Russia. It is located on the Red Square.
What is #museumsalon?
It is a twitter-based project. We started it in September 2013 after the Ask a Curator day. You can follow some previous sessions using Russian hash tag #музейнаягостиная
The idea is to bring together the museum curators and the audience and discuss one particular topic for 1 or 2 hours (e.g., the permanent Ivan the Terrible exhibition). We usually hold the sessions at the weekend in the evening, when most people are at home and ready to spend some time following the conversation.
The curator prepares a text and images in advance, and during the session (s)he is available, ready to answer the mediator’s questions.
We are going to present this project at the Museums and the Web conference in Florence on February 19.
